3 Healthy Summer Recipes

This blazing summer sunshine calls for homemade popsicles and poolside BBQs. With the kids home all day, it can be tempting to swing through the fast food drive through as a quick dinner fix…but don’t let this busy season distract you from your wellness goals! Keeping the family happy and healthy is just as important during these warm summer months, so we’ve compiled a list of our favorite healthy essential oil recipes. And the best part? They’re all kid-approved!

BBQ Chicken with Essential Oils

Healthy Summer Recipes

Ingredients

  • 5 chicken breasts or legs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup Tamari soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 4 drops lemon essential oil
  • 1 drop lime essential oil
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • Juice of 1 orange

Directions

Combine marinade ingredients in a large bowl and stir until well mixed. Pour the ingredients over the pieces of chicken in a gallon Ziploc bag. Allow the chicken marinade in the refrigerator for 1-hour minimum, 8 hours if possible. Use marinade to brush the chicken during the first ten minutes of cooking. Let the chicken settle for 15 minutes before serving.

Minty Watermelon Popsicles

Ingredients

  • 3 cups watermelon slices , divided
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut water
  • 4 drops lime oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. In a blender, puree 2 1/2 cups diced watermelon pieces, mint leaves, coconut water, lime oil, and honey. Cut the remaining 1/2 cup watermelon slices into 1/4 inch cubes.
  2. Pour and evenly divide them among the popsicle molds. Stir the popsicle mixture, then fill each mold.
  3. Insert the popsicle sticks. Freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 c. diced red onion
  • 1/4 c. chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 c. chopped tomato
  • garlic powder to taste
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 4-6 drops lime oil
  • 3-4 drops orange oil

Directions

Mix all of the ingredients together and serve chilled. 😋
