Hibiscus Orange Lip Balm

Materials Needed

1 tbsp Coconut Oil

1 tbsp Cocoa Butter or Shea Butter

1 tbsp Beeswax Pastilles

1 tsp Castor Oil for shine

12 drops Orange

Small storage containers or reused lip balm tubes

Powdered hibiscus calyzes*

*You will need hibiscus “roselle” calyx for this recipe. It usually comes dried and whole. Take a tablespoon and grind it into a fine powder using a coffee grinder or food processor. You could use beet powder as well.

Method
  1. Add the coconut oil, beeswax, and cocoa/shea butter to a pan and simmer on low heat until melted.
  2. Stir and remove from stove. Add the castor oil. Let sit until the mixture is warm to the touch, but not thick. It’s easier to pour into containers when it is still liquid.
  3. Mix in the essential oils. Slowly add your hibiscus powder or juice until you get the desired color. Pour into your  containers, label, and enjoy!
