iTOVi Tips: Bluetooth Connection

The iTOVi scanner is Bluetooth enabled, allowing you to take your iTOVi scanner with you anywhere you may go. Bluetooth technology is similar to radio-wave technology as it allows devices to connect within a short distance without any cables or cords (roughly 30 feet).

The pairing process for an iTOVi scanner is fairly simple and only requires your device’s Bluetooth is turned on. The MAC ID of your iTOVi scanner is part of your account. After logging in to the iTOVi app and starting a scan, the app will automatically pair with your scanner for that scan session. There is no need to ever manually pair your scanner with your mobile device.

If you still experience connection issues, the simplest fix is to turn Bluetooth off, then back on on your mobile device and then perform a reset of your iTOVi scanner. The reset process is quick and easy, simply take a paperclip or something similar and lightly insert it into the reset hole located on the back of your iTOVi scanner. You will feel a short vibration and the lights will flash. That’s it!

  •      Launch the iTOVi app
  •      Select Menu in the upper left-hand corner
  •      In settings, select iTOVi scanner. Here you will be able to test your connect as well as check your battery status.

Once you select ‘Test Connection’ your iTOVi scanner will vibrate signifying a successful connection has been made. You are now set to run an iTOVi scan!

My ITOVI isn’t working. It keeps saying I need to make contact with the skin/error. I have done everything I can to hold it in different ways. I did it the same way when I purchased.

    • iTOVi September 29, 2016 at 20:51

A lot of time skin contact errors happen when the skin is too dry. We suggest washing your hands with warm water to get some extra blood flow to the hands and to help moisten the skin. If that doesn’t work, please give our customer support team a call at 877-483-3748 and they can help with some other troubleshooting tips.

Still can’t pair with my iPad, the instructions say to press the pairing button, where is that?

    • iTOVi October 1, 2016 at 13:16

Hi Kathie. There is no pairing button. Those instructions did not come from iTOVi. To use the scanner, all you need to do is download the iTOVi app and log in using your email address and password. The app takes care of pairing the scanner with your iPad once your scanner is charged.

My itovi does not work in my Android 7 phone, but works in my Android 4.4 phone. How do I make it work on Android 7? The app is up to date.
